Footplate Experience Days

                         
  On selected dates in 2007 we are offering the chance to join our loco crews on the footplate of one of our steam locos for the day. The day will start at 08:00 with the preparation of the locomotive for the days work there will then be opportunities to drive & fire the locomotive throughout the day before we return to the shed to dispose of the locomotive at the end of the day  
  These days include membership of the society until March 31st 2007 and membership of the Appleby Frodingham Athletic Club until March 2008

  May 2007  We are presently overhauling all our steam locos.

We will not be advertising any dates for footplate days until our locos have been returned to traffic

We expect a list of dates to be available from early April

 
    08:00 welcome & Safety Briefing  
  June 2007     08:30 Introduction to Instructors  
  July  2007     08:45 Introduction to loco ,& prepare loco for work  
  August 2007       10:45 Learn basic Driving & fireing skills  

To Reserve a  place on one of these footplate experience days, a donation of £175-00 per person to the society is required,

                  16:15 Return to Shed & Dispose of loco  
to ensure the maximum amount of time on the footplate All these

Terms & Conditions of booking

All participants must be over 18 years of age & under 75 Years of age & in reasonable health

All participants must be suitably dressed on the day and provide their own safety footwear, No one wearing sports shoes, open toed shoes or shorts will be permitted on the footplate of one of our locomotives.

No refunds will be given except in the case of AFRPS cancelling the footplate experience day

The payment includes membership of the society until end March 2006 all other monies paid are a donation to the society towards operating costs

Payment must be received by the society at least 14 days before the footplate experience day

The decision of the committee of AFRPS is final in all matters

These footplate experience days are limited to 2 people per day

No one who is under the influence of alcohol or drugs in the opinion of our loco crew will be allowed on the footplate and they will be escorted off the site immediately
